GENERAL INFORMATION

Latchkey is available for St. Lawrence students, kindergarten through grade 8.  Care is provided from 2:25 PM until 6:00 PM on full days when school is in session.  The St. Lawrence Latchkey is not open when school is closed due to holidays, inclement weather or emergency situations.  The cost of the program is $3.00/hour per child.  The cost for Jr. High students riding the late bus or being picked up at 3:00 PM is $3.00/day.  If paying by check, please make the check payable to St. Lawrence School.

The children will have supervised recreation and will be provided a snack and drink.  The children will be expected to do homework as soon as school is dismissed, unless parents request otherwise.  If the children have no homework, they will need a book to read.

LATCHKEY REGISTRATION

The After School Program Registration Form must be completed for each child in our care.  We must have the name, telephone number and relationship of each person who may pick up your child in an emergency.  We will not release a child from our care to anyone who is not listed on this form unless we have written consent from the parent or guardian.  YOUR CHILD MAY NOT ATTEND UNTIL THE REGISTRATION FORM IS TURN INTO THE SCHOOL OFFICE.  The After School Registration Form can be found in the “Forms and Documents” section or from the School Office.

FEES AND PAYMENTS

All fees for our program are to be paid by the 1st and 15th of the month.  DISCONTINUED SERVICES WILL BE THE RESULT OF FAILURE TO MAKE TIMELY PAYMENTS.

LATE FEES

Our closing time is 6:00 PM.  Children left in our care after 6:00 PM will be charged at the rate of $1.00/minute.  In addition, children left in our care after 6:00 PM more than 5 times in one school year will be withdrawn from the program.  There will not be any exceptions.

DAILY SIGN IN/SIGN OUT

All children will be signed into our care daily when they arrive from school.  You must sign your child out when picking them up.  You will be charged for a full day’s care if time is not indicated when signing out.

SAFETY POLICY

A first aid kit is on hand at all times.  There is also a telephone available for emergencies.

MEDICATION/HEALTH GUIDELINES

If your child needs medication dispensed during Latchkey hours, parents must send medication in original containers and daily instructions to the school office (see page 8 of the Parent/Student Handbook).

Latchkey, day care and pre-schools can be a source for the spreading of infection and disease unless careful procedures are followed.  We will follow strict sanitary guidelines to insure that there are no unnecessary risks to the children.  We ask that you abide by the following guidelines:

1. Because your child may become ill at any time, it is crucial that we know how to reach you at all times.  Please keep emergency contact current.  We cannot be held responsible for the results of incorrect information.

2. If your child is ill, it will be left to the school’s discretion whether your child will need to be picked up early from latchkey.

DISCIPLINE POLICY

Children are to show respect for each other and all those in authority at all times.  Children are also expected to show respect for school and personal property, as well as all materials used during the Latchkey Program such as, school supplies, games, toys, etc.

When a child’s behavior is dangerous or threatens the safety or well-being of another child, a staff member will intervene.  If unacceptable conduct cannot be corrected by verbal communication, parents will be notified.

Talking back and use of improper language or gestures are ALWAYS unacceptable.  In addition, there will be no hitting, fighting, kicking, shoving, or wrestling of any kind.  IF ABOVE ACTIONS OCCUR, PARENT(S) WILL BE NOTIFIED IMMEDIATELY TO COME AND PICK UP THEIR CHILD/CHILDREN.

Yelling and screaming are unacceptable in the school, restroom, or hallways.  Inside voices are to be used except when outside.  There will be absolutely no running in the school rooms or hallways.  Running can be done outside only.

Disregard for our Discipline Policy outlined in the St. Lawrence School Handbook may result in a child being sent to the school principal for reprimand, or possible dismissal from the program.
