St. Lawrence School

National Junior Honor Society

On Wednesday, February 24th, St. Lawrence School inducted twenty-three students from the sixth, seventh and eighth grade into the school’s chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.  Membership was based on a grade point of 90% or above in all subjects.  The students had to complete an application process which included answering questions in the categories of scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship.  The young men and women had to show in what way they had displayed these qualities.

The ceremony began with the students processing in to the church and a welcome and introduction from the pastor, Father Peter Gallagher and the principal, Mrs. Karen White.  Each student received a white rose, a NJHS pin and certificate and then recited the NJHS pledge.  Afterwards, students, families and faculty members enjoyed a dinner served in the school cafeteria.  “I am very excited about being a member of National Junior Honor Society.  It is a privilege and also an opportunity to be a positive role model for the younger students,” said seventh grader Grace Weismiller.

Members of the NJHS include Bobby Ash, Madeline Bowell, Mallory Crosby, Allie Holmes, Rachel Magee, Nathan Mueller, Libby Califf, Abbie Hornberger, Alex Huber, Courtney Kendall, Vicki Pollack, Hannah Rea, Kathryn Rennekamp, Sydney Romines, Sophia Sandford, Annie Schiller, Alley Schmidt, Tori Stuard, Paul Terle, Grace Weismiller, Blair Boone, Jake Lyman, Sammie Mattlin, Jenna Morgan, Nick Murphy, Megan Platt, Erin Pope, and Abbey Schmidt.
